Well there you go. Ivanka Trump has given her blessing to the White House decision to roll back the Obama initiative to promote pay transparency in companies between genders. This contradict her previous statements, including her tweet on Equal Pay Day in April “Women deserve equal pay for equal work”.

Trumps comment on the rollback:

“Ultimately, while I believe the intention was good and agree that pay transparency is important, the proposed policy would not yield the intended results,” Trump said on Tuesday. “We look forward to continuing to work with [Equal Employment Opportunity Commission], [the Office of Management and Budget], Congress and all relevant stakeholders on robust policies aimed at eliminating the gender wage gap.”

So if you are woman at a company and you hear wages come up and with a boss (male or female) telling a female employee something along the lines of: "Your are paid great for your position", "Your pay is very competitive", "You are paid basically the same as (your male co-worker)", "You are paid more than some of your peers", "You should be happy with as much as you get" etc... That is double speak for "You are paid well enough...for a woman...but a man in your roll doing the same would be paid better, promoted faster, and spoke of better...".

Tell them two words "Prove it" (and be sure that includes the examples full compensation!).Think of it this way. When a man is angry, loud, pushy, or firm with people it is considered "manly" (as a positive thing), "displaying executive skills", "running a tight ship". If a woman performs the same way she is referred to as a "bitchy", "bossy", "weak". And heaven forbid a woman ever express the natural emotion of crying. Men can't handle witnessing that because it was shamed out of their culture when they were ~12 years old. So crying is viewed as "The ultimate sign women are weak".

My advice: If you are a major player at a CRM company make it an initiative to audit your own company and discover if your company is living up to the ideals that are the foundation of Anthropology root education many of us share. We do not have a time machine to change to past, but we can change our futures.
