To post a job to Shovel Bums for the first time follow these steps

If you already receive mail from ShovelBums for archaeology job announcements it is easy.

• Compose the e-mail for the archaeology or CRM job announcement in your e-mail program.  Be sure to not use any HTML, fancy fonts, pictures, etc... For security reasons I have the server strip off this information.  Instead compose your job announcement in plain text.

• E-mail your posting to shovelbums@yahoogroups.com

• Your message will be checked by an administrator and then be sent out to the 12,000+ members of ShovelBums.

If you are not a member then you can easily join the Yahoo Shovelbums group from the address you want to send the message from .
Note: this does not have to be the address you list in the archaeology job announcement for contact information. But sometimes members automatically respond to the e-mail address that sends the job out:

This is the best of the two ways to join.  By using this option you will have full access to the Yahoo Message services including posting messages using the online form.  This will also allow you the ability to associate several e-mail addresses with your account so you can keep business e-mails seperate from personal.

2 - Send a blank message from the e-mail account you want to use to send your job postings from to:   shovelbums-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

• Yahoo sends an confirmation e-mail to the address that you registered with.  You need to respond to this e-mail for your account to become active.
  

• After you confirm the Yahoo e-mail you are now a member.
  

E-mail your job advertisement to shovelbums@yahoogroups.com

The job advertisement can include whatever contact information your company chooses in the body of the message.  This does not have to be the same as the address you are sending from.

Send your message only in PLAIN TEXT. Attachments and HTML (bold, italics, tables, etc..) are stripped from messages to prevent viruses from making it through.

Why can't I see my e-mail address on the web page after I have submited my ad?
The reason you only see part of the e-mail (on the web page) is to prevent spam harvesters from picking up the address.

 How do members of Shovelbums find my e-mail address?
List members see the full e-mail information in the e-mails they receive. For members accessing a job online, they can respond through the job advertisement page to the posting, but not see the full address it is going to.
