    School Description:

    The Summer Field School courses provide a professionally focused, intense, and exciting educational
    program. Like professional archaeologists, we will put in full workdays and you should not plan on
    taking any other courses or working during this time. You will be expected to dress for fieldwork in
    long pants, sturdy shoes, long-sleeved shirts, and hats. Work ethic and collaboration with others
    will be stressed. You will be provided with all the large tools and equipment you will need. A
    materials fee for Arche 2 & 4 ($135 for each class; $270 total for 2006) will cover the costs of a
    professional toolkit that you will take with you for entry-level work in archaeology in the future.
    You will work with and alongside professional archaeologists and advanced technicians to develop
    skills and contacts to support your future employment in archaeology.

Tuition: For CA residents, $26/unit plus $13 health fee; $270 total materials fee for Arche 2 & 4; 00 housing/meal fee for Arche 4 (2006). (Non-resident tuition: $164/unit additional)
Cabrillo College credit  (transfers to UC and CSU systems)

Room and Board Information: Cost & Description: For 2006 Summer Field School there will be a $500 housing and food fee for Arche 4. Room and board for the remainder of the program is
the student's responsibility.
Recommended readings Required texts: "Doing Archaeology" by Tom King, ISBN 1-59874-003-2 and "Archaeology: Basic Field Methods" by R. Michael Stewart, ISBN 0-7872-8129-8. A reading log is required for both texts, consisting of a summary of each chapter, any questions you may have, and notes on when and how much time you spent reading, thinking, and writing.
